My Story

My father was my inspiration to become a glass artist. When he retired before age 60, due to early onset Alzheimer’s, my mother worked to keep his mind engaged by having him take up stained glass. The result was that the family had a few years of enjoying his accomplishments and treasuring his gifts. When he could no longer work with stained glass, I decided why not me?

In the 1990’s, I learned to make traditional stained glass by taking in-studio classes. I learned copper foil and lead techniques, starting with making simple suncatchers and graduating to more complex windows and lamps. As the years passed I came to the realization that while I loved cutting glass and working with color, I didn’t love the associated tasks of foiling and soldering the glass!

So when glass fusing began to enter the realm of hobby glass, I knew it was what I wanted to do, to make beautiful glass without soldering. In the early days, opportunities to learn fused glass were limited. But as the internet bloomed, so did exposure to fused glass and its possibilities. I purchased my first kiln in 2015, and since then I have focused on learning and expanding my skills in glass fusing. My work is motivated by finding and using new techniques and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
